About Ophsé
Finding inspiration
My name is Daphne. For many years I have been friends with Amanda. Even though we live on opposite sides of the world (Taiwan and The Netherlands), our lives have turned out quite similar. This led to a situation where both of us were telling the other we were pregnant at the same time. Our daughters ended up being born within 24 hours of each other. They gave us the inspiration to start working with baby and kids clothes. To honor that we named the brand Ophsé after both girls, Ophelia and Reese.
The inspiration for the logo comes from transforming our expectations for newborns into a concrete design. A tiny embryo, round in shape, grows slowly like a grape. The newborn baby is soft and covered in fine downy hair all over, resembling an adorable teddy bear. A smiling baby is like a pistachio, with a bright and cheerful smile. From a tiny embryo to a small baby takes 9 months, carrying the anticipation and hope of the parents. Each cry resonates throughout the delivery room. From then on, there's a little tail following wherever you go. We hope to give her the best love, care, resources, and safety.
Our mission
Our mission is to offer affordable and high quality clothes for babies and kids. This is what we want as parents ourselves and this is what we want to offer other parents. After some research, we have found we can offer the best price and quality if we use suppliers from China and South Korea. To ensure a high quality, either me or Amanda or both of us will visit each potential supplier. Furthermore, we order samples first to test the quality ourselves. Because we work closely with Amanda in Taiwan, we can assure quick and easy access to the suppliers in case of need.
Going green
Even though we have barely started, we already have big plans for the future. Sustainability is important for many parents and also for us. The aim is to improve the sustainability and reduce the carbon footprint for Ophsé. One way we already try to achieve this is to buy stock as we need it to limit waste. Another way we already work on this is by prefering suppliers that use ecofriendly materials.
The future plans are threefold. First, we want to switch to more ecofriendly packiging materials when it becomes more economically viable for us to do so. Second, we aim to expand our network of ecofriendly suppliers. Finally, we want to focus on the reusability of our clothes. Since we aim to offer high quality clothes, this means kids should easily outgrow them. We plan to open up a marketplace for customers to share or resell used clothes from Ophsé to other parents. This could be a massive improvement in sustained use our products.
